Asked why he taught mind is Buddha Ma-tsu said ‘to stop a baby crying’.
The Monk then asked ‘What’s it like when the baby stops crying?’
Ma-tsu said ‘No mind no Buddha’.

‘Do not let the word ‘Tao’ delude you; Realise it is nothing else than what you do morning and night.’
Shido Bunan
‘Ordinary Mind is Tao. Hundreds of flowers in spring, the moon in autumn.’

A monk said to Joshu: ‘I have just entered the monastery. Please teach me.’
Joshu said, `Have you eaten breakfast?’

`Then wash your bowls and put them away,’ said Joshu.
