  1. (My) understanding: Dependent Origination is a cycle, made of links, that undergo the cause and effect principle as follows:

    Avijja (Avidya) Ignorance is the cause that produces the effect, Sankhara (Samskara) mental formations.

    Sankhara (Samskara) mental formations are the cause that produces the effect, Vinnana (Vijnana) Conciousness.

    Vinnana (Vijnana) Conciousness is the cause that produces the effect,

    Nama-rupa. Name & form.

    Nama-rupa. Name & form is the cause that produces the effect,

    Ayatana (Shadayatana) Six bases.

    Ayatana (Shadayatana) Six bases are the cause that produces the effect, Phassa (Sparsha) Sense impression.

    Phassa (Sparsha) Sense impression is the cause that produces the effect, Vedana. Feeling.

    Vedana. Feeling is the cause that produces the effect, Tanha (Trishna) Craving.

    Tanha (Thrushna) Craving is the cause that produces the effect, clinging/attachment.

    Clinging/attachment is the cause that produces the effect, “Bhava” or the state of existence.

    “Bhava”/the state of existence is the cause that produces the effects of Birth, Decay, Disease, Death, Sorrow, Lamentation, Pain, Grief, and Despair,

    The above are the cause that produces the effect of an existing (fake) being.

    The existing (fake) being is the cause that produces Avijja or ignorance of not knowing the absolute truth and Avijja produces Sankhara and the cycle of Dependent Origination continues.
