What a brilliant and beautiful teaching on consciousness, awareness and dwelling in the present. The heart of the Buddhas teachings, purely and concisely articulated by a brilliant teacher. My heartfelt thanks. Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu!
I’ll second that!
Good to listen to Ajahn Sumedho again.
Plain common sense Dhamma, here and now. With a touch of humour thrown in!
It was especially interesting to hear his views on the Asian practice of dedicating merit.
Something I’ve never felt comfortable with.
Many thanks.
Cheers Peter,
Merit (Sanskrit: puṇya, Pali: puñña) is such a simple, but misunderstood teaching.
At its deepest level, ‘Insights arise from correct function’, or behaviour, is an amazing teaching — which has sadly been reduced to a sort of product.
The practice of dedicating merit is also a very deep practice which helps remove the notion of self.
Easy to see how some westerners miss its wonder when looked at as a commercial transaction.

Great to hear Sumedho again and have his comments on the present situation and to be reminded of empty phenomena.
I needed a dose of wisdom . Thank you.
