Morning meditation — In meditation, thoughts appear, yet awareness itself remains unmoved.

‘In meditation, thoughts appear, yet awareness itself remains unmoved. The mind’s radiance is not dimmed by thinking; it is simply overlooked. When we become lost in thought, it is not the light that is absent but our recognition of it. This distinction is crucial.’

On our Twitter account, Buddhism Now @Buddhism_Now, most mornings we post a ‘morning meditation’ like the one above.

On the net, of course, it’s morning, afternoon, evening, or night-time 😀 somewhere.

Just a note to say how much I appreciate your posts—small thoughts to carry one through an hour, a day, a lifetime. This one especially spoke to me, as there is so much to distract and worry us. “Thoughts appear, yet awareness itself remains unmoved.” I would say that this is true not only during meditation, but always.
